[ARCHIVED] New Survey Asks Maricopa County Residents How Their Community Affects Their Health

Take the Survey maricopahealthmatters.org

PHOENIX (March 12, 2019) – How would you rate the quality of life where you live? What do you feel are the biggest strengths in your community? Residents can provide valuable input on questions like these and help inform where resources are needed in the community by taking a brief online survey at MaricopaHealthMatters.org now through June 30, 2019.

“This is a great opportunity to hear directly from residents about our community strengths and how we should prioritize future health improvement planning efforts,” says Lilliana Cardenas, supervisor for the Office of Community Empowerment in the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. “Every resident of Maricopa County has a valuable perspective, and we want to hear as many of those as possible. Residents from all parts of the population and all areas of Maricopa County should complete the survey to make their voice heard.”

Every three years, Maricopa County Department of Public Health, in collaboration with health care and community partners, conducts a Community Health Survey to develop a deeper understanding from residents about issues that relate to quality of life, availability of services, physical and mental health, and more. This survey is a key part of a more comprehensive community health review to identify the most important problems that can be addressed through community action.  Past community health surveys have already been instrumental in drawing attention to emerging health issues, such as improving healthy food options in low-access communities.

Information collected in the survey will be kept confidential and used only in combination with others participating in the survey. No personal identifying information will be collected.

All community members ages 14 and up from every region of the Valley are encouraged to share their opinions. The survey is available in English and Spanish and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete online at MaricopaHealthMatters.org. It also can be accessed via mobile by texting @maricopa to 39242 (must include the @ symbol; standard text messaging rates apply).
