The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors appointed a new constable today for the Arrowhead Justice Precinct.

Michael Branham will fill the position Constable Ron Myer had for more than a dozen years.

“Mr. Branham is a leader and has extensive experience  working in public service,” said Supervisor Clint Hickman, District 4.  “A retired police and criminal justice executive, Mr. Branham cares  deeply about his community. He’s going to be a fantastic addition to the  constable fleet.”

In Maricopa County, constables are responsible for serving official  documents including eviction notices and orders of protection.   Constables are typically elected by voters, but the Board of Supervisors  has the authority to appoint a constable in the event of an unexpected  vacancy.

Branham served his community as a police chief and public safety director in Youngtown; assistant city manager for the city of Surprise; executive director of the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission; and director of the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections.

“This is an important function. I pledge to bring fair, effective,  timely and economic justice to everyone we encounter every day,” said  Branham.
