February 4, 2020: The Board of Supervisors will interview five of the eleven applicants for the position of Maricopa County Assessor in executive session on February 10 and 11.
The following candidates will be interviewed:
Board members may choose one of these five or expand interviews to other candidates. No date has been set for the Board to vote for the next county assessor.

January 17, 2020: Board of Supervisors Outlines Process for Filling County Assessor Vacancy
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications for the position of County Assessor. The Board officially accepted a resignation for the office on January 8, 2020 and determined the following process to fill the vacancy.
Applications will be accepted through Monday, January 27 at 5 pm.
Applicants Should Submit:
- Letter of interest
- Answers to questionnaire
- Maximum of three letters of recommendation (optional)
These items should be emailed to the Clerk of the Board Opens in New Window . The Board may choose to interview applicants before making a decision.
State law assigns the Board of Supervisors responsibility for appointing a new county assessor in the case of a vacancy. The process for making that appointment is not defined by state law.
The applicant must be a Maricopa County resident over the age of 18 and a registered Republican per ARS 16-230. Those interested in applying may download and complete the required questionnaire Opens in New Window . The person selected will fill the remainder of the current term which ends December 31, 2020.
Applicants should send the letter of interest, resume, completed questionnaire and letters of recommendation to the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 301 W. Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003 or email it to ClerkBoard@maricopa.gov. All documents filed with the Clerk’s Office will become public records and may be posted online. Applicants are subject to a background check.
